Veterans Nursing Facility Hosting Second Annual Memorial Benefit 5K Run and Walk

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The West Virginia Department of Veterans Assistance (WVDVA) today announced the West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility in Clarksburg will be hosting the Second Annual Memorial Benefit 5K Run and Walk on Saturday, May 5, 2012, on the grounds of the Veterans Park.

Early registration is $15.00 and all proceeds will directly benefit the residents of the Veterans Nursing Facility. In addition, participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt and race winners will be awarded a trophy.

Last year’s event attracted nearly 40 participants and provided approximately $1,200 for veterans to take part in off-site activities such as fishing, movies, lunches and fairs. Facility administrators hope to increase the number of runners and walkers so they can double that amount this year. To accommodate this they are seeking more sponsors, so businesses and other organizations are encouraged to get involved.
