McKinley To Host West Virginia Veteran For State of the Union Address

Washington, D.C. – Rep. David B. McKinley, P.E. (R-WV) on Monday announced he will be hosting a special guest during President Obama’s State of the Union Address tomorrow night in Washington. West Virginia native and Morgantown resident Sargeant David Pierce Ervin, will spend the day on Capitol Hill and attend the event as the Congressman’s invited guest.

“Our greatest heroes are those that serve day in and day out to protect the values we cherish,” McKinley said. “I am thrilled to have one of these extraordinary citizens accompany me tomorrow to the President’s the State of the Union address. Men and women like Sergeant Ervin have spent countless hours away from their families and risked their lives to protect ours. My deepest gratitude is extended to Sargeant Erwin for the multitude of sacrifices he and his fellow soliders have made to protect our freedoms.”

Sergeant Ervin served in Iraq from January 2005 to December 2005 in the 2nd Squadron 11th Armored Calvary Regiment. Graduating with honors from West Virginia University, he completed his history degree in three and a half years. He currently works as a Veterans Service Officer for West Virginia Department of Veterans Assistance, and has obtained more than $15 million for the veterans of West Virginia.
